We all love CH and there are admirers outside of CH too!
On Niche's latest list of America's 50 best suburbs, CH received the honor of being ranked #3 as a "great place" to live in the USA and the #1 best place to live in the metropolitan Chicago area. Congrats!!
We must point out that high rankings does not equal the to spend the most or the need to increase spending. So, while we agree that CH is a great place to live, our tax level has simply accelerated upward with no corresponding increase in property values. We are concerned that the overspending and compounding tax increases (well above inflation rate) can only hurt our future rankings and damage our property values. Increased taxes increase the cost of living which includes property taxes hikes which in turn negatively affects future rankings and property values. We love our town and know our leadership can stop the overspending plaguing all taxing bodies, especially local. A recent movement has even been labelled SOS (Stop the Over Spending).
We will send out a reminder of the last tax levy increases and how much your local taxing bodies increased their spending, most of it going directly to employee salary, benefits and pension increases.
